“Lord Dunraven’s Landlord Committee has requested me to provide, on behalf of the Irish Party, the names of four gentlemen to serve as representatives of the tenants at the upcoming land question conference. It might be inconvenient to hold a party meeting to select these names, and I believe it is unnecessary. The original four names suggested were Mr William O’Brien, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mr T.W. Russell (representing Northern farmers), and myself. If I can be assured that the party is satisfied with these names, I will submit them to Lord Dunraven. I kindly request that you inform me promptly, via return post, whether or not you approve of this selection.”
