Limerick Mourns Passing of Mr John Hardiman

Mr John Hardiman, secretary and receiver of the Limerick Markets, passed away on Monday after a brief illness. He was a highly esteemed member of the community. In 1874, he was elected as a Town Council member for the Shannon Ward, succeeding the late Councillor Michael Robert Ryan, who had served as Mayor of the city in 1859. Mr Hardiman’s sudden demise, following only a few days of ailment, has deeply saddened his extensive circle of acquaintances.

Around twenty years ago, Mr Hardiman held the position of deputy Clerk of the Peace for the County. However, he retired when the clerkships of the Peace and Crown were consolidated into a single office. His funeral was held this morning, and among the chief mourners were his son, Mr John Hardiman, a solicitor from Charleston, Mayo; his grandson, Master Henry Hardiman; and Mr John Guinane, Jp. The officiating clergymen at the funeral were Rev. John Lee of St. Michael’s, Rev. Dr O’Riordan, Rev. Father Nolan, and Rev. Father Duhig.
