Limerick, Sunday – A significant fire broke out on Saturday afternoon at the rear of Mungret Street, Limerick, resulting in substantial damage. The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. when the residence of Mr P. M’Inerney caught fire, spreading to the adjacent stores located at the back of the property. The flames rapidly engulfed the building, posing a serious threat to the densely populated area.
Local firefighters from the Limerick Fire Department swiftly responded to the scene, working tirelessly for an hour to bring the situation under control. Their efforts were successful in containing and extinguishing the fire, preventing it from spreading further.
Unfortunately, the store at the property suffered extensive damage and was completely gutted. Numerous valuable goods and merchandise, worth several hundred pounds, were destroyed in the blaze. While some of the losses are expected to be covered by insurance, a significant portion will be borne by the property owner.
At present, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway to determine its origin. Authorities will be examining the incident thoroughly to ascertain if any foul play or negligence contributed to the outbreak.
The local community is grateful for the prompt response of the fire department, whose efforts prevented the fire from causing additional harm to nearby properties and residents. As the investigation progresses, residents and business owners in the area are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of their properties and the well-being of the community.
