Persecution Of The Jews In Limerick

The Imperial Protestant Federation, in collabouration with various British and Irish Protestant organizations, has expressed deep concern over the recent mistreatment of Jews in Limerick. At a fast meeting, it was unanimously agreed to address a letter to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, drawing attention to the enclosed reports from daily newspapers regarding the events in Limerick.

The Federation believes that the actions of certain priests from the Church, who have allegedly promoted a boycott against and launched voluntary attacks on Jews, are scandalous and should not be tolerated in a free and Christian country. In light of this, the Federation fervently hopes that His Majesty’s Government will take immediate steps to prevent the recurrence of such behaviour. They also request that an inquiry be conducted into the actions of those responsible for these outrages, with appropriate consequences for those found morally and legally liable.

Similar letters have been sent to the Prime Secretary of Ireland and the Home Secretary, emphasizing the urgency of addressing this matter and ensuring the protection of the Jewish community in Limerick.

Signed,
James W. Walsh
Organizing Secretary, Imperial Protestant Federation
