Triumphant Victory for Alderman Joyce in Limerick Mayoral Election

In the latest mayoral elections, Alderman Joyce clinched a decisive triumph, securing the coveted position of Mayor in the illustrious city of Limerick. The election results, as unveiled by the Corporation, underscored a clear and commanding mandate, with an impressive 26 votes cast in favour of Alderman Joyce’s appointment, while a count of 8 votes stood in opposition.

Furthermore, the Corporation’s proceedings witnessed the passage of a momentous resolution pertaining to the acceptance of British honours by the Mayor and City Sheriff. This significant motion, carried with a majority vote, outlined a protocol dictating that the Mayor and City Sheriff, during their tenures, should gracefully receive British honours.

Concurrently, within another session of the Corporation, Joseph Hutchison’s tenure as Lord Mayor was extended for the upcoming year, ensuring the continuation of his dedicated service and leadership to the city.

Meanwhile, in the city of Cork, Alderman Barrett ascended to the esteemed position of Lord Mayor. The outgoing Lord Mayor, Mr Roche, although nominated, opted not to participate in the electoral contest, thereby facilitating Alderman Barrett’s successful election to the post.

The mayoral elections in both Limerick and Cork have thus culminated with unequivocal outcomes, heralding the commencement of the newly elected officials’ responsibilities as they embark on their journeys to contribute to the advancement and well-being of their respective cities.
