A delegation from the County Limerick Coursing Club paid a special visit to Mr J. D. Moylan of Newcastle West, presenting him with a remarkable life-size painting of himself, skillfully created by Mr Henry O’Shea from Limerick. The club had initially planned to publicly honour the chairman, but upon his request, they decided to present the gift in a more intimate setting.
Mr Philip O’Sullivan, speaking on behalf of the club, expressed their admiration and appreciation for the chairman’s dedicated service. They wanted him to know how dearly he was valued by the members, and their wish was for him to continue presiding over the club’s affairs for many more years.
In response, Mr D. Leonard, Chairman of the Newcastle West Town Commissioners, also a member of the coursing club, extended his gratitude to the club for bestowing such an honour upon their fellow-townsman. He acknowledged that Mr Moylan’s virtues and humility were well-regarded not only in Newcastle West but beyond.
Mr Moylan, visibly touched by the gesture, conveyed his heartfelt thanks to the delegation for their thoughtful gift. In return, he hosted the members for a delightful lunch, fostering the warm camaraderie that exists within the club.
