
At the recent annual meeting of the Irish Land and Labour Approved Benefit Society, held in Limerick, Secretary Mr Michael Ryan, D.C., delivered the society’s report. The report outlined the significant activity over the past year, particularly in terms of benefits disbursed and administrative expenses.
Mr Ryan reported that a total of 19,133 cards were forwarded to the Insurance Commissioners throughout the year, with various benefits disbursed to members. This included payments for injuries, disabilities, and maternity benefits, amounting to a total of £10,658 7s 2d. Despite these payouts, the society still maintained a healthy balance, with £4,919 1d credited.

The meeting also saw the reappointment of the outgoing committee of management, with the addition of Mr John Gorman. Additionally, a resolution was unanimously passed, urging the Insurance Commissioners to negotiate more favourable terms with attending physicians.
The meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts of the society in supporting its members and managing its finances efficiently.
