A gathering of the Limerick City Executive of the U.I.L. convened at the Council Chamber in Limerick on Saturday, with Mr S. O’Mara, High Sheriff presiding over the assembly. Delegates from various branches of the U.I.L. in the city and its environs were in attendance.
The meeting, chaired by Mr High Sheriff and seconded by Mr Molloy, witnessed unanimous support for the retention of Mr First Aid as President and Mr L. O’Donnell, S.C., as Secretary, urging them to reconsider their resignation. Additionally, the election of officers ensued, with Aid. Joyce, MP.., elected as Representative National Directory, Mr Ml. Fitzpatrick as Vice-President, and Mr J. Dundon, solr., as Treasurer.
In a resolution proposed by Mr McNamara and seconded by Mr O’Flynn, S.C., attendees congratulated Mr Redmond for his decision of declining a seat in the Coalition Cabinet, pledging unwavering support for the Irish Party’s policy and future endeavours towards achieving the National ideal. The Chairman, expressing pride in Mr Redmond’s stance, highlighted the importance of upholding Irish interests amidst ongoing political developments.
Aid. Joyce, MP.., emphasized the resolute unity within the Irish Party, affirming their determination to safeguard Irish aspirations. He underscored the significance of Mr Redmond’s leadership during the prevailing crisis, urging renewed vigour within the U.I.L. organization to further their cause.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to the principles of the Irish Party and a call to action for increased participation within the U.I.L., reflecting a steadfast dedication to advancing Irish interests.
