Exploring Limerick Archives

In the bustling heart of Limerick, Gerry Hannan, a native historian, author, and archivist, undertakes a solitary endeavour known as the Limerick Archives. With academic accolades including a B.A., M.A., and M.B.S., Hannan channels his expertise and passion into constructing this monumental project.

Funded exclusively by donations, the Limerick Archives aims for completion by December 2025. Each donation serves as a crucial step towards realizing Hannan’s vision—a comprehensive repository of Limerick’s 20th-century history.

Upon fruition, the Limerick Archives will stand as a beacon of accessibility—a free-to-access digital archive housing a wealth of images and stories that capture the essence of Limerick, Ireland. Its digital shelves will host one thousand two hundred e-journals, meticulously chronicling Limerick’s journey month by month from 1900 to 1999.

But Hannan’s ambition extends beyond the digital realm. One hundred books, available for global delivery via Amazon in paperback and hardback formats, will further immortalize Limerick’s legacy. Whether in full colour or monochrome editions, these books will offer readers a tangible connection to Limerick’s storied past.

Through Hannan’s tireless dedication and the generosity of donors, the Limerick Archives transcends its status as a mere project—it becomes a testament to the enduring spirit of a city, celebrating its past, present, and future in equal measure.

Every donation, no matter how small, makes a significant impact. We urge you to consider donating today to support our mission of providing free access to our online digital archive and complimentary e-journals for both current and future generations of Limerick residents worldwide.
