PRIDE OF THE SHANNON ARRIVES AT LIMERICK DOCKS. 1924.

FOWLER 15713 “PRIDE OF THE SHANNON” WAS NEW IN 1924 TO DAVID DONNELLY OF LIMERICK AND REGISTERED TI 1501. IT WAS DRIVEN FROM DUBLIN DOCKS TO LIMERICK AND HAD TO MAKE A DETOUR OF AROUND 50 MILES OWING TO THE BRIDGES BEING BLOWN UP DURING THE IRISH CIVIL WAR. LATER PURCHASED BY A MICHAEL MCMAHON AND FINALLY ENDED UP IN A DERELICT CONDITION AND BEEN ROBBED OF MANY PARTS AT THE MARKET SQUARE IN BALLINA, CO. MAYO. FINALLY RESCUED FOR PRESERVATION AND NOW FULLY RESTORED WAS THE ONLY A9 CLASS SHOWMAN BUILT BY FOWLERS.
