Limerick’s Lost Royal Arms: Councillor and Others Face Trial for Larceny

A special court in Limerick yesterday committed Councillor Joseph Ryan, a member of the corporation, Joseph Fitzgerald, and John Egan for trial on charges of larceny. The case involves the disappearance of royal arms from the Town Hall on April 25. The historic property, which has been in the corporation’s possession since the reign of Charles I, was removed by the late mayor, Mr Daly, and placed in a storage room where the accused allegedly took it. The defense claims that the disappearance was not part of a criminal act.
