From the Limerick Hebrew Congregation,

Limerick, January 15th, 1904.
To Michael Davitt, Esq.,
Dalkey, Dublin.
Dear Sir,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you as the minister of the Limerick Hebrew community, as I am convinced of your religious and political tolerance, which has been further reinforced by your recent support for our persecuted race. I apologize for intruding upon your valuable time, but I feel compelled to bring to your attention the unfortunate situation we find ourselves in due to a recent address delivered by one of the Redemptorist Fathers of Limerick. Enclosed herewith, you will find a copy of the address for your personal consideration.
Without boasting, I must emphasize that over the past twenty-five years, during which the few Jewish families have resided in Limerick, we have lived in perfect harmony and peace with our Christian neighbors of all classes. The fact that none of our community members have ever been charged with any offence during this period is a testament to their moral and political character. The mutual respect between our community and our Christian neighbors has been evident, leaving us puzzled as to the sudden turn of events.
Regarding the claims made by the reverend gentleman, we can confidently assert that they are devoid of any truth. It seems that the learned lecturer has been misinformed. Whether this anti-Semitic outburst stems from religious prejudices or is fueled by local instigators, we leave to your discretion. However, we earnestly request that, as an Irish patriot and a friend of humanity, you utilize your influence to prevent potential sects from initiating a general boycott against us or inciting an anti-Semitic riot. It is concerning that some of us have already experienced insults, assaults, and menacing threats.
I must mention that we have refrained from making any statements to the press regarding this unfortunate incident.
Thanking you in advance for your attention to this matter, I remain
Yours respectfully,
Rabbi Levin
