An incident unfolded on Sunday evening at Limerick Docks, where one of the crew members of Messrs Spaighi’s smack, Laloo, narrowly escaped drowning. Thanks to the timely assistance rendered by Mr Thomas Naughton, a courageous dock bridgeman, the man was brought safely ashore. Mr Naughton’s heroic efforts didn’t stop there; he went above and beyond to revive the stricken individual. This act of bravery adds to a long list of lifesaving interventions by Mr Naughton, both at sea and in the Shannon. Notably, he recently received recognition from the Royal Humane Society for rescuing Mr Keyes of Goodwin and Company, located on William Street.
