
We are saddened to report the passing of Mr Edward McGillicuddy McCarthy, a respected sorting clerk at the General Post Office. Mr McCarthy, who was only 36 years old, had recently fallen ill after catching a cold. Despite medical care, his health deteriorated, resulting in his untimely demise. His family, relatives, and a large number of friends mourn his loss deeply. Mr McCarthy was highly regarded within the Post Office community and cherished by many in his personal life due to his amiable nature. In this time of great sorrow, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family.
Mr McCarthy was the second son of Mr Edward McCarthy, a well-respected citizen of New Street. A funeral service was held on Sunday, commencing at St. Michael’s Church and concluding at Mount St. Lawrence Cemetery. A multitude of people from all walks of life attended the funeral, paying their final respects to the departed soul.
