Munster Fusiliers Memorial Nearing Completion

To the Editor of the Irish Times,

It is with great pleasure that I inform your esteemed readers about the progress of the proposed memorial to the Royal Munster Fusiliers, which is now well on its way to becoming a reality. The chosen site for its erection, graciously provided by the Earl of Kenmare, has been definitively decided upon, located in the picturesque grounds of Killarney.

The design for the memorial, which will take the form of a majestic Celtic Cross, is currently under careful consideration. With the generous support of the well-wishers of the regiment from the counties of Clare, Cork, Kerry, and Limerick, it is confidently anticipated that the work will be completed in the spring or summer of 1905.

On behalf of General Laurie and the committee, I take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who, through the efforts of the Lieutenants of Counties, ladies, and other individuals, have wholeheartedly aligned themselves with their Territorial Regiment in perpetuating the memory of their fallen comrades.

In early 1905, a detailed statement of subscriptions will be published, providing transparency and recognition to those who have contributed. To facilitate the Committee’s work, I kindly request that all subscription lists be closed and returned to me no later than December 31st of this year.

We remain dedicated to honouring the brave men of the Royal Munster Fusiliers and are eagerly looking forward to the completion of this memorial, which will stand as a lasting tribute to their sacrifice.

Yours obediently,

Colonel S. H. Harrison
(Honorary Secretary)
Commanding 101st Regiment District, Tralee
November 15th, 1904.
