
A tragic and sombre incident transpired on Friday night near Rathkeale when a fatal accident resulted in the loss of Mr Edmund Carroll, a highly esteemed farmer hailing from Ballinrober, near Ballysteen. The unfortunate turn of events occurred as Mr Carroll was on his way home, driving approximately half a mile from the town.
In an unexpected mishap, the vehicle in which Mr Carroll was travelling overturned, leading to his ejection onto the road with devastating consequences. Regrettably, he lost his life instantaneously. The deceased, who was approximately 65 years old, was a well-regarded member of the local community. His untimely passing has cast a profound shadow of sorrow and grief over all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
