Limerick – The funeral of the late Mr John Woulfe, hailing from Dunganville, Newcastle West, was held recently and drew one of the largest attendances the district has seen in years. The deceased, who reached the remarkable age of 85, belonged to one of West Limerick’s oldest and most respected families. He was widely admired for his upright character and modest nature.
Among the attendees were the Right Reverend Monsignor Hallinan, P.P.; Reverend Father Reeves, C.C.; Reverend Father O’Leary, C.C.; Mr D. Leonard, chairman of Newcastle West Urban Council, and numerous other prominent gentlemen from the county. The late Mr Woulfe was the father of Mr Maurice Woulfe, a renowned member of the Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP). Mr Maurice Woulfe has gained fame for his exceptional weight-throwing skills and his contributions to the renowned DMP tug-of-war team.
The funeral procession made its way to the family burial place at Grange, paying tribute to a beloved and esteemed member of the community. The passing of Mr John Woulfe leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
