
Rathkeale – Following an enlightening lecture delivered by Reverend Father J. Murphy, C.C., of Rathkeale, at the St. John’s Temperance Society’s Hall on Friday night, a delightful concert program was presented, thoroughly enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience. The following performances delighted the attendees:
Miss O’Connor showcased her vocal talents with renditions of “Barney O’Hea” and “Rory O’Moore,” both impressively performed. Her captivating delivery earned her an encore from the enthusiastic crowd.
The renowned Mr A. Donovan, a crowd favourite, enchanted the audience with his signature style, singing “Mavourneen.” In response to an encore request, he flawlessly performed “The Exile’s Return.”
Miss O’Brien, formerly of the Limerick Pipers’ Club, delighted the gathering with a graceful reel and an exhilarating Irish jig, showcasing her exceptional dancing skills.
Mr P. Savage delivered a heartfelt rendition of “Eileen Mavouroeen” in his customary manner, captivating the audience with his performance. Miss Quin touched the hearts of those present with her emotional interpretation of “Alas, Those Chimes.”
Mr Conway mesmerized the audience with his rendition of “Pyramid Sword.” Miss Ahern, a talented dancer, added to the spectacle with an Irish reel and a lively jig.
The highlight of the evening was the highly anticipated duet performed by Messrs. Donovan and Conway, titled “The Larboard Watch.” The harmonious blending of their voices delighted the crowd, garnering immense appreciation.
The concert concluded with a captivating performance by the St. John’s Four-hand Reel Class, showcasing their exceptional dancing skills with grace and precision.
Expressing gratitude for the audience’s attendance, Reverend Father M. Murphy thanked everyone for their support and participation. The event came to a close, leaving the attendees uplifted and entertained.
Miss Gilligan skillfully presided over the piano, providing musical accompaniment, while Mr Morrison added to the atmosphere with his violin performance.
