
A triumphant conclusion marked the final meeting of the Limerick Demonstration Committee at the Town Hall on Saturday. Chaired by the esteemed Mayor, the meeting was attended by dedicated individuals who had played vital roles in organizing the recent grand gathering in the city. The committee, after dealing with routine matters, unanimously decided to dissolve as their mission had been accomplished. Acknowledging the Mayor’s significant contributions, Mr William Lundon, MP, proposed a vote of thanks, highlighting the Mayor’s tact, guidance, and consistent dedication to the nationalist cause.
His Worship’s invaluable advice steered the committee through discussions and ensured a smooth organization process. Applause followed as Mr S.P. Harris seconded the vote of thanks, emphasizing the Mayor’s ongoing support and assistance to the committee’s endeavours. Mr Robert Coll, Chairman of the County Council, echoed the sentiments, praising the Mayor’s dignity and recognizing him as a credit to the city. The Mayor graciously accepted the appreciation, emphasizing the power of unity and independent action for the country’s greater good.
The committee also expressed deep gratitude to the diligent and courteous Honorary Secretary, Mr George MacDonagh, whose efforts played a pivotal role in the success of the meeting. Special mentions were made for Messrs. S.P. Harris, W.D. Power, and M.J. Neville, who had contributed significantly to the resolutions adopted during the gathering.
