Alderman Joyce, MP.., has assumed the esteemed position of Mayor of Limerick City, garnering enthusiastic support from both officials and citizens alike. During the recent pey sessions, Mayor Joyce was accompanied by the City High Constable and Mace Sergeants, including the popular Mr Forest. The latter was visibly elated to wield the historical sword gifted by Queen Elizabeth to the Corporation.
Welcoming the magistrates, solicitors, and Mr O’Hara, D.1., Mayor Joyce aligned himself with the sentiments expressed on behalf of the police. Expressing gratitude, he hoped for a smooth tenure. Following tradition, the new Mayor exercised his prerogative of leniency, cautioning several individuals for their actions. However, one publican, who had previously been fined, received a stern 20s. reminder to uphold responsibilities in their establishment.
