CITY TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MAKES PREPARATIONS FOR UPCOMING CONGRESS

Limerick’s Technical Instruction Committee gathered for a significant meeting at the Central Institute on George Street yesterday afternoon. The meeting was presided over by the Very Rev. Andrew Murray, and several committee members were in attendance, including Miss Doyle, Rev. J. Dowd, B.A., Rev. Brother Nolan, and Messrs. W.G. Peacocke, W.B. Joyce, E. Cole, Geo. MacDonagh, M. McInerney, and others.

The main agenda item revolved around the upcoming Technical Congress scheduled to take place in Limerick. The Rev. Chairman announced that the railway company had agreed to provide special facilities for the visit to Adare, and Lord Dunraven graciously granted permission to use the grounds at Adare Manor during the event. Father Murphy also gave updates on the preparations for receiving the Congress delegates.

It was heartening news for the committee as the Corporation pledged their support and financial assistance to the event. The Corporation members had even initiated a subscription list to contribute to the funds. The Chamber of Commerce, represented by President Mr A.W. Shaw, also promised their support, solidifying the collabouration between the Corporation, Chamber of Commerce, and the Technical Committee in forming the Citizens’ Committee, responsible for the reception arrangements.

Rev. J. Dowd took on the task of preparing a pamphlet that would cover the historical and archaeological aspects of Adare. In addition to this, Mr MacDonagh suggested including a brief overview of the prominent manufacturing establishments in the city, which the Congress delegates are expected to visit. The proposal received approval, and Mr MacDonagh was asked to assist Rev. J. Dowd in compiling the relevant information.

To ensure smooth coordination, the Rev. Chairman announced that a meeting of the Citizens’ Committee would be convened at the Chamber of Commerce on Friday afternoon. Following the completion of routine business, the meeting adjourned, signifying the committee’s progress in making the Technical Congress a grand success.
