Mr John Dundon, solicitor, forwarded an agreement for the block paving of the docks, which Mr P. Dillon is the contractor for, and requested that it be signed and sealed by the board.
During the discussion, Mr Meany inquired about the type of cement that would be used for the paving. Mr Morovey stated that the contract did not specify a particular type of cement, as long as it met the conditions. He mentioned that the cement had been tested, and the best they found came from Limerick, which is what the contractor was using.
Alderman O’Brien asked if there was a clause in the contract requiring Mr Dillon to hand over any materials he removes to the Engineer. Mr Moroney confirmed that there was such a clause, and anything worth using would be deposited where directed, which would save them from having to put down new materials.
Alderman O’Brien suggested that if the materials were going to the Commissioners, they should be the ones to cart it away themselves. Mr Power explained that the contractor is paid to do it.
Finally, Mr Haliday proposed, and Mr Roche seconded, that the agreement be signed and sealed, which was then done.
