
In accordance with the powers conferred upon them by the Shop Hours’ Act of 1904, the County Borough Council of Limerick has decided to enact a Draft Closing Order for certain trades within the city. After considering the evidence presented, the Council is satisfied that a prima facie case has been made, warranting the implementation of this Order.
The following is the proposed Draft Closing Order:
Order Date: 31st March 1905
Closing Time: Thursdays at 2:00 PM
Applicable Trades: All shops pertaining to the following trades shall be closed throughout the City:
- Drapery and Kindred Trades, including the Boot Trade and Merchant Tailoring Trade
- Cycle Trade
- China Trade
- Jewellery Trade
- Stationery and Booksellers’ Trade
- Musical Instruments Trade
- Pawnbroking
This Draft Closing Order aims to regulate the operating hours of the specified trades and promote the welfare of workers while considering the needs of the public. It seeks to strike a balance between supporting the business community and ensuring the well-being of employees by providing them with adequate rest and leisure time.
The County Borough Council of Limerick will review the Draft Closing Order to ensure its compliance with the provisions of the Shop Hours’ Act, 1904, before its implementation.
