Last Friday, a solemn funeral procession was held to bid farewell to the late Mr John Griffin, son of Mrs. Griffin of Upper William Street. The funeral service took place at St. Michael’s Church, followed by the interment in Mount St. Lawrence Cemetery. The attendance was significant, as the deceased had earned the respect and admiration of a vast circle of friends in Limerick and Clare, all of whom deeply mourn his untimely passing.
The clergy present at the funeral included Reverend Father Curtin of Cratloe, Reverend Father Cregap, Administrator of St. Michael’s, Reverend Father Lee, Reverend Father O’Connor, Reverend Father Carroll, and Reverend Father Dubiy of the Dominican Order.
The chief mourners were Mrs. E. Griffin, the mother of the deceased, along with C.A. Griffin and J.P. Griffin, his brothers, and Miss M. Griffin, his sister. The general public’s attendance was extensive, and among them were notable figures, including Chairman John McLerney and a considerable number of members from the Limerick Board of Guardians.
Reverend Father Curtin conducted the graveside service, offering solemn prayers for the departed soul.
The funeral arrangements were executed by Mr John Griffin, located on Gerald Griffin Street, who ensured that the sombre occasion proceeded with dignity and respect. The premature passing of Mr John Griffin has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished dearly by those he leaves behind.
