TRALEE AND DINGLE RAILWAY: COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT MEETING

The regular monthly meeting of the Tralee and Dingle Railway Committee of Management was held on Tuesday, chaired by Lieutenant Col. Rowan, J.P. In attendance were various committee members and company officials, including the Secretary, Manager, Loco Superintendent, and Auditor.

One of the topics discussed during the meeting was a claim by Michael P. Dunne from Knockgloss, Camp, regarding a cow killed on the company’s line. After some deliberation, the matter was adjourned for further consideration.

The Manager presented a report stating that there was a loss of traffic due to a shortage of wagons. To address this issue, it was proposed to purchase five additional wagons, and discussions on the matter were deferred to a later date.

Regarding a recent action against the company, a decree for £18 was obtained in favor of Messrs. Denny of Limerick, concerning injury to pigs caused by lime in the wagons. The committee considered penalizing the porters responsible for the incident and decided to issue a caution, warning that further negligence would be taken seriously.

The Kerry Anglers Association applied for reduced fares on the line, and the request was granted by the committee.

The upcoming Dingle races in July were discussed, with the Dingle race committee seeking free passes to travel over the line to promote the event in Tralee. The committee agreed to grant the passes, which were expected to amount to approximately £1 5s.

The Auditor, Mr M.L. Griffin, presented a satisfactory report on the station accounts for the month, though there were some outstanding balances, which the committee had already addressed by ordering no further credit to be given.

The meeting was then adjourned for future discussions and considerations.
