City Technical Committee – Preparations for the Congress

A general meeting of the Limerick Technical Instruction Committee was held to discuss preparations for the upcoming Technical Congress in Limerick. The Very Rev. Andrew Murray presided over the meeting, and several committee members and representatives from different organizations were present.

The main focus of the meeting was to plan for the Congress, and it was noted that the railway company had agreed to provide special facilities for the visit to Adare. Lord Dunraven generously allowed the use of the grounds at Adare Manor for the occasion. The committee members discussed the progress of arrangements for the reception of Congress delegates.

The Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce had pledged their financial and other support for the event. They, along with the Technical Committee members, would form the Citizens’ Committee, responsible for organizing the arrangements for the delegates’ reception.

Rev. J. Dowd was tasked with preparing a pamphlet that would cover the historical and archaeological interests related to Adare. Additionally, the pamphlet would include a brief overview of the significant manufacturing establishments in the city that the Congress delegates would visit. Mr MacDonagh was requested to assist Rev. Dowd in this endeavour.

The Rev. Chairman announced that a meeting of the Citizens’ Committee would be convened at the Chamber of Commerce on Friday afternoon.

After handling some routine business, the meeting adjourned.
