“Re-Election of Chairman Sparks Heated Exchange at Limerick No. 2 District Council Meeting”

Tensions ran high at the meeting of the Limerick No. 2 District Council as Mr John Mclneraey was re-elected as the chairman. Mr Michael O’Curry was initially proposed for the position but graciously declined, stating he would not oppose the chairman this year but jokingly added, “Next year, you will have to walk.” However, the atmosphere turned contentious when Mr James O’Regan objected to Mr Mclnerney’s re-election, alleging that the chairman had previously stated he would not sit on the Clare County Council if Mr O’Regan was chairman. While Mr Mclnerney denied the accusation, the exchange led to an angry scene, marking a rare moment of discord in the history of the No. 2 District Council.
