INDUSTRIAL IRELAND: Conference on Promoting Irish Goods

The Mayor of Limerick (Alderman Joyce, MP..) is set to participate in a Conference organized by the Cork Industrial Development Association on November 21st and 22nd. The primary focus of the Conference will be on how to effectively promote the purchase of Irish goods by individual consumers. It aims to raise awareness among buyers about the significance of supporting Irish manufacturers and increase knowledge about the range of Irish-made products available for purchase.

During the Conference, discussions will also take place on various related topics, including the idea of establishing a registered trade mark for subscribing members of the association to identify Irish-made goods. This measure aims to help consumers easily recognize and choose products manufactured in Ireland.

Another important aspect to be addressed is the concept of Irish public boards giving preference to Irish-manufactured goods for the next five years. Even if some of these products may be slightly higher in price than similar imported goods, the aim is to support deserving struggling industries and create more employment opportunities for Irish workers. The focus will be on ensuring that the quality of Irish goods is not inferior to imported alternatives.

Additionally, the Conference will delve into the issue of transit rates, aiming to find solutions that would benefit the transportation of Irish goods more efficiently and affordably.

Lastly, there will be discussions about establishing a Central Council that will be dedicated to addressing the various concerns and proposals related to promoting Irish goods and enhancing the industrial landscape in Ireland. The Central Council will play a crucial role in coordinating efforts and initiatives to bolster the Irish manufacturing sector.

Overall, the Conference intends to provide a platform for collabourative discussions among key stakeholders, including representatives from different industries, public boards, and associations, to collectively work towards the growth and prosperity of industrial Ireland.
