Condolences Expressed for Limerick Resident at St. John’s Hospital Gathering

The monthly assembly of the Governors of St. John’s Hospital took place on Friday within the halls of the Chamber of Commerce, bringing together a notable assembly of dignitaries. Presiding over the session was the esteemed Most Reverend Dr O’Dwyer, Lord Bishop, a prominent figure in the local religious community. Among the attendees were the Very Reverend T.R. Shanahan, P.P., who holds a respected position in the clergy; Reverend A. Murphy, Administrator; and Reverend T. McNamara, Chaplain. The gathering also included C. Johnson, Vice Chair; John Kerr, I.C.; William Lloyd; and Joseph Purcell, serving as the secretary.

With the customary matters of business addressed, a sombre and heartfelt moment emerged during the proceedings. Reverend A. Murphy, in a motion seconded by Mr William Lloyd, put forth an expression of condolences. The sentiment was extended to Mr Michael Cuddiby, Barrister-at-Law and a local figure, upon the passing of his wife. The motion received unanimous support from the attendees, indicating a community united in empathy during a trying time.

During this heartfelt expression, His Lordship added his own voice to the chorus of condolences. He expressed his wish to stand alongside the proposer and seconder, affirming his solidarity in conveying sympathy to Mr Cuddiby amidst his recent bereavement.

Over the years, Mr Cuddiby had become closely associated with the board in his capacity as a member of the Management Committee. His consistent engagement and unwavering attention to hospital matters demonstrated his profound dedication. He was recognized as a valuable and forthright member of the committee, contributing to the hospital’s endeavours. In light of his contributions, the secretary was entrusted with conveying the collective condolences of the board to Mr Cuddiby during this difficult time.
