Armenian Atrocities and Humanitarian Appeal

The Society of “Friends of Armenia” has brought to our attention the ongoing dire situation faced by the Armenian people. They wish to draw public attention to the plight of the Armenians, not only as a matter of humanity but also in recognition of the bonds of national faith and treaty rights that connect them.

Despite promises made by the Turkish Government, they have failed to uphold their commitments and have imposed heavy taxes on the Armenian population, leaving them destitute. This dire situation is further exacerbated by the approach of winter, during which many Armenians are facing the prospects of hunger and suffering. Reports from both consuls and missionaries on the ground suggest that the survival of the Armenian people is at stake.

Furthermore, the Turkish Government has filled prisons with innocent individuals who are subjected to torture. The uncertainty of who will be targeted next hangs heavy in the air. The Society of “Friends of Armenia” acknowledges their failure to prevent this suffering and torture, and they appeal to the public for assistance.

In this time of need, the Society of “Friends of Armenia” calls for urgent aid. They emphasize the need to provide Armenians with grain for sowing, support in rebuilding their homes, and assistance for the vulnerable children who have been orphaned due to these dire circumstances. It is not just hunger that the Armenians are facing; they are also grappling with the aftermath of recent earthquakes that have rendered many homeless.

Funds to aid the Armenian people can be sent promptly through Hector Munro Ferguson, the Honorary Treasurer of the “Friends of Armenia,” located at 47 Victoria Street, Westminster. Those who wish to contribute are encouraged to make checks payable to this organization. The Society of “Friends of Armenia” seeks to mobilize support and alleviate the suffering of the Armenian people, who are enduring an unimaginable crisis.
