ESTABLISHING A BANKRUPTCY COURT IN LIMERICK: A CALL FOR ACTION

Chamber of Commerce,
Limerick.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to draw your attention to a matter of utmost importance that could significantly impact our city’s trade and commercial activities. The potential establishment of a Bankruptcy Court in Limerick is a subject that deserves our thorough consideration and immediate action.

This endeavour would not only greatly benefit local traders but also elevate Limerick’s standing in accordance with its rightful place. The advantages are undeniable, as it would streamline the process for businesses facing financial difficulties and provide a conducive environment for economic recovery.

In this regard, I propose that we assemble a dedicated delegation to approach the Attorney General and express our strong desire for the establishment of a Bankruptcy Court in Limerick. This step is crucial to ensure that our voices are heard and our interests are represented.

It has come to my attention that during a recent visit by a delegation from Cork, the impression was left that Limerick did not wish to host such a center. I firmly believe that this sentiment does not reflect the views of our majority, as evidenced by the support of public boards and the extensive trader community.

Furthermore, considering Limerick’s strategic location as a natural hub for Clare, Kerry, and Tipperary, establishing a Bankruptcy Court here aligns perfectly with our city’s role as a center of distribution.

To address this matter effectively, I propose that we convene a meeting on the 23rd of this month to discuss the potential establishment of the Bankruptcy Court in Limerick. By bringing together representatives from various sectors, we can jointly formulate a compelling case to present to the Lord Chancellor, voicing the collective aspirations of our city’s citizens.

I hope that you will lend your support to this cause, recognizing the immense benefits it could bring to Limerick’s commercial landscape. With concerted effort and a unified voice, we can work towards securing this important opportunity for our city’s prosperity.

Yours faithfully,

Concerned.
