Limerick

Noble and dignified across the ages,
Grand for the valour and brave blood shed,
In tears of a nation, your name engages,
Mourning the loss of heroes, now dead.
Your river once crimson from gallant strife,
When Sarsfield's men stood unwavering strong,
Now gentle and clear, a placid life,
Yet concealing our land's sorrowful song.
Limerick, home, a word that shines bright,
For deeds and courage in times of old,
When Irish hearts true, in freedom's light,
Gave their all, their lives, for a banner of gold.
Home, sweet home, though distance lies,
Your memories dear in my heart abide,
Preserved for the friends and bygone skies,
Moments cherished, in time's gentle tide.

Sincerely, Brincer Birmingham, 7 Owen Street, Atherstone, Warwickshire.
