Limerick, Tuesday — Love and joy interwove their tender threads yesterday as Miss Lillian Mary Tidmarsh and Captain Stuart Harman Joseph Thunder united in matrimony at the revered St. John’s Cathedral. The ceremony unfolded amidst the timeless stone arches, witnessed by a sizable congregation, as the radiant bride and her gallant groom embarked on a journey of lifelong companionship.
The cathedral’s sanctified atmosphere was adorned with a tapestry of evergreens, flowering shrubs, and plants, crafting a picturesque backdrop for the sacred vows. The high altar, bedecked in floral finery, provided a charming setting for the nuptial rites conducted by the Reverend D. R. Shanahan, P.P., St. Mary’s.
The bride, a vision of grace in her bridal ensemble, was escorted down the aisle by her father, Mr David Tidmarsh, Chairman of Cannock and Co., George Street. The ceremony bore witness to the union of two hearts, as Captain Thunder, the dashing Adjutant of the 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment, stood ready to embark on this new chapter of life with his beloved.
The bridal party was further embellished by the presence of three bridesmaids: Miss Daisy Thunder, sister of the groom, and the bride’s sisters, Miss Lily Tidmarsh and Miss Maureen Tidmarsh. In a show of camaraderie, Mr Click C. Jennings, of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, stood as the esteemed best man.
The choral notes resonated within the sacred walls, adding a melodic layer to the joyous occasion. As Mendelssohn’s Wedding March echoed through the cathedral, the newly-weds, surrounded by the warm wishes of their loved ones, stepped into the embrace of marital bliss.
Post-ceremony, Captain and Mrs. Thunder embarked on their journey to Leenane, Co. Galway, where they will savour the initial days of their wedded life before setting sail for Aden. The departure marked the commencement of their adventures together, and the echoes of joy from their union lingered in the hearts of all who witnessed the beautiful matrimony.
Limerick, known for its historic charm, has now become the backdrop for a new chapter of love and companionship, as Captain and Mrs. Thunder embark on the voyage of matrimonial bliss. The joyous occasion is celebrated not just by the couple but by the community that witnessed the union of these two souls bound by love and commitment.
