In a show of solidarity and unity, the Limerick Leaguers have voiced their support for the resolutions passed by the Cork City Executive of the United Irish League. During a special meeting held by the Sarstield Branch in Limerick, Mayor Councillor DoxskLLY presided over the gathering where the members wholeheartedly endorsed the resolutions put forth by their counterparts in Cork.
The resolutions centre around the significance of the Land Conference settlement, which aimed to eradicate landlordism and establish more favourable conditions for Irish tenants, including those who had been evicted from their homes. The Limerick Leaguers recognize the importance of this settlement in bringing about positive change for the country’s tenantry.
Expressing deep concern over the defeat of the Conference policy, the resolutions highlight the adverse effects it has had on the people’s organization and the tenants themselves. To address these challenges, the Limerick Leaguers call upon the National Directory to reaffirm their commitment to the Land Conference settlement and the policy outlined within it. They stress the need for a united front to revitalize the spirit of the nation, facilitate land purchase opportunities, reinstate evicted tenants on fair terms, and tackle the unreasonable demands imposed by landlords.
While expressing their support for the resolutions, the Limerick Leaguers also emphasize their desire to honour and retain the services of all esteemed leaders who have dedicated themselves to the cause. They underscore the importance of adhering to the decisions made by the National Authorities and the imperative of maintaining unity within the Irish Party and the United Irish League.
To ensure their voices are heard, copies of these resolutions will be forwarded to Mr John Redmond, the respected leader of the Irish Party and the League. Additionally, they will be shared with members of Parliament, delegates on the Directory, and the secretary of the United Irish League. The resolutions will be considered at the forthcoming National Directory meeting, where the future course of action will be determined in line with the aspirations and interests of the Irish people.
