The Judge And The Juror: A Humorous Exchange in Limerick Court

Judge Adams, esteemed County Court Judge of Limerick and a renowned raconteur at the National Liberal Club, is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s wittiest individuals. However, even the sharpest minds can sometimes find themselves on the receiving end of a humorous encounter. During a recent court session, a juror approached the judge, seeking an exemption due to deafness.

Curious, Judge Adams inquired, “Were you present in court during the jury charge in the last case?” The juror promptly responded, “Yes, Your Honor.” Amused, the judge pressed further, asking, “Did you hear it?” The juror’s reply sparked uproarious laughter from the courtroom: “Yes, Your Honor, I heard every word of it, but I couldn’t make any sense of it.”

Joining in the laughter, Judge Adams displayed his good-natured spirit. However, despite the humorous exchange, the juror’s plea for exemption was not granted.
