HOSPITAL CO. LIMERICK AND THE UNITED IRISH LEAGUE

A special meeting of the above was held on Sunday in the parochial hall, with Rev. H. Mockler presiding. Other attendees included Messrs. F. Mitchell (co. sec.), P. Murnane, J. Ryan (v. pres.), M. O’Connell, P. H. Madden, T. Power, J. O’Neill, J. Davern, J. Hanlon, R. Coffey, J. Jones, E. Murphy, T. Murphy, John Hanlon, etc.

Mr Mitchell began the meeting by acknowledging the significant loss the branch has suffered due to the sad passing of their respected treasurer, Mr T. O’Dea. The deceased had also held the same position during the old Land League days, and his counsel and opinions were always valued with respect and consideration. He proposed a motion: “That this meeting do hereby adjourn as a mark of respect to the memory of our late respected treasurer, Mr T. O’Dea.”

Mr P. Murnane seconded the motion and expressed that no kinder gentleman had passed away in Hospital for a long time. The Rev. Chairman declared the resolution passed unanimously and stated that Mr O’Dea was a most respectable merchant. His loss was undoubtedly deeply felt in the parish.
