Limerick, Friday Night—St. Joseph’s Church witnessed a momentous occasion as the news of the Archbishop’s patronage of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Boys’ Brigade spread. The Most Reverend Dr Welsh, Archbishop of Dublin, graciously approved the establishment of the brigade, located at 155-157 Church Street, under the auspices of the Franciscan Fathers of Merchant’s Quay. This endorsement adds an esteemed level of recognition to the organization’s mission.
The annual collection in aid of the Infirmary of Mercy, scheduled for Sunday, will be held in all the churches across the city. Given the prevalent poverty in Limerick, which persists throughout the year, the need for funds to support the afflicted is apparent to all. It is expected that compassionate citizens will once again extend their generous support to this admirable charity.
Furthermore, a Catholic Library Institute meeting was convened, presided over by Reverend M. O’Riordan, D.D. On the motion of Mr H. J. Guinane, the vice president, a resolution was unanimously passed expressing heartfelt condolences to the surviving relatives of the late Secretary, Mr John G. Fogarty, who recently passed away. The resolution aims to convey sincere sympathy and solidarity during this time of sorrow.
