“Irish Times” Praises Limerick Proselytizer, Daily Express Stands Alone in Support

The “magnificent leader” of the week, as praised by the “Irish Times,” seemed to have worked wonders in favor of the Limerick proselytizer it has taken under its wing. However, several days have passed since the “martyr” Long told his harrowing tale to a select audience at the Rotunda, and though it provided our Scoto-Irish contemporary with a perfect opportunity to show an outpouring of sympathy towards this paid man, the gentleman searched in vain for such consolation within the pages of the “Irish Times.” Only the “Daily Express” came to the rescue of the medical proselytizer, leaving its Westmoreland Street rival thinking it has sufficiently committed itself to souperism and Orangeism. Perhaps in a week or two, it may gather the courage to publish another diatribe, which could garner the doubtful compliment of Dr Long’s approval.
