Irish Army Cup Match at Limerick

A match in the fourth round of the Irish Army Cup Competition took place at the County Limerick Football Grounds in Limerick on Saturday evening. The game featured the Lancashire Fusiliers, who travelled from the Curragh Camp, and the King’s Liverpool Regiment. Despite the cold weather and intermittent showers, a modest crowd gathered to watch the match, which was played at a slow pace due to the heavy ground conditions.

The home team started off strongly, advancing towards the visitors’ territory early in the game. However, a corner kick failed to produce any results. After the restart by Lucas, the Lancashire forwards launched a coordinated attack, but Jones from the King’s Liverpool Regiment managed to thwart their efforts. Jones then embarked on a solo run, making significant progress before being stopped. Shortly afterward, Crowley passed the ball to Cropper, who scored amidst great excitement among the spectators.

In the second half, the pace of the game increased, but despite several close calls, the Lancashire team failed to score. However, from a free kick, Bourke managed to equalize the score. In the extended time added, the visitors scored another goal, securing their victory.
