On Sunday evening, a meeting of the Munster Provincial Council was convened in Cork. Mr Thomas F. O’Sullivan, the President, presided over the gathering, and several members were in attendance, including Mr P. McGrath and Mr T. Browne from Tipperary, Mr J. Fitzgerald from Cork, Mr P. J. Hayes and Mr P. O’Reilly from Limerick, and Mr D. Fraher and Mr T. Higgins from Waterford.
The financial report indicated that the gross receipts for the year amounted to £580 7s 7d, while the expenditure reached £555 19s 3d, excluding the Secretary’s commission and a claim of £40 from the Central Council.
During the meeting, the Limerick representatives sought the Council’s opinion regarding a match between Caherline and the Young Irelands of Limerick. Due to inclement weather, the referee postponed the game after the first 30 minutes of play, with Caherline holding a substantial lead. The Limerick County Board ordered a replay of the match for the full hour but did not make a ruling on the score.
The Council expressed the view that the match should have been replayed, with the score from the halted game standing.
Subsequently, the election of officers for the upcoming twelve months took place, resulting in the following appointments: Mr T. F. O’Sullivan was reelected as President, Mr Hayes became the Vice President, Mr Fraher was reelected as Treasurer, and Mr Dooley was reelected as Secretary.
