Funeral of the Late Bishop of Killaloe Commemorated Today

Today, the solemn funeral service of the esteemed Most Reverend Dr M’Redmond, Bishop of Killaloe, was held at the Cathedral in Ennis. The ceremony was attended by several members of the Irish Hierarchy, including His Eminence Cardinal Logue, along with a large gathering of priests and a numerous congregation. His Eminence presided over the High Mass, joined by other distinguished prelates, including the Most Reverend Dr Fennelly, Archbishop of Cashel; the Most Reverend Dr O’Dwyer, Bishop of Limerick; the Most Reverend Dr McCormack, Bishop of Galway; the Most Reverend Dr Sheehan, Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, and the Most Reverend Dr O’Kelly, Bishop of Ross. The Archbishop of Cashel served as the celebrant for the High Mass.

Following the church ceremonies, a procession took place through the town, with the participation of various public bodies, school children, the Constabulary, and the Clare Artillery Militia. Upon returning to the church, the remains of the late Bishop were laid to rest in a vault located in the centre of the church, in front of the High Altar.

The funeral service paid tribute to the life and legacy of the late Bishop, who served his community with dedication and devotion. The presence of esteemed members of the Irish Hierarchy and the large congregation reflected the deep respect and admiration held for the late Bishop M’Redmond.
