
Cork, Tuesday – In a significant development regarding the issue of evicted tenants in Ireland, the Irish Bishops have expressed their full support for the movement to restore tenants to their holdings. A letter from the Bishops was received by Mr John Moloney, Secretary of the County Limerick Evicted Tenants’ Association, outlining their commitment to taking appropriate steps within their respective dioceses to facilitate the return of tenants to their lands.
The correspondence, dated June 26th, 1904, was sent from Bishop’s House on John’s Hill in Waterford. It conveyed the collective sentiments of the Bishops and highlighted their acknowledgement of Mr Moloney’s letter dated the 20th of the same month. The Bishops, including Bishop A. Sheehan of Waterford and Bishop O. Clancy of Elphin, expressed their desire to support the evicted tenants’ cause and undertake actions deemed most efficient in achieving the desired outcome.
The County Limerick Evicted Tenants’ Association has been at the forefront of advocating for the rights and reinstatement of those who have been unjustly evicted from their lands. The support from the Irish Bishops signifies the growing momentum and solidarity behind the movement.
