John Sullivan, a 42-year-old dock labourer and widower with three children, was sitting on the parapet at Baals Bridge around 6 o’clock when he accidentally fell into the river. The fall rendered him unconscious, and he was swiftly carried away by the fast-flowing current for a significant distance. His lifeless body was later found at Arthur’s Quay. An inquest will be held today to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
