Singing and Talking Machines: A Growing Trend

The popularity of singing and talking machines has reached unprecedented levels, captivating people from all walks of life. The anticipation of a tremendous surge in sales within the next few months is well-founded. To meet the rising demand, Messrs Cole, Nelson & Co., located at 38-39 Patrick Street in Limerick, have already stocked a large inventory of both disc and cylinder machines.

The disc machines will be available at prices ranging from 52s to £15, while the cylinder machines will range from £153 to £10. In addition to the machines, they offer an extensive selection of records, including Edison Bell at 1s, Evony at 1s 6d, Pathe at 1s 6d, and X P at 1s 3d each. They also carry Nicole Disc Records priced at 5s and 2s 6d, as well as Columbia Records at 2s 4d and 4s 4d each.

One of their featured products is the “Farringdon” disc machine, priced in 70s. Messrs Cole, Nelson & Co. believe that this particular machine stands out for its exceptional naturalness and clarity of tone, setting a high standard that will be difficult to surpass. The tones produced by these machines are so remarkably lifelike and human that many who heard them from a distance believed they were actually listening to the human voice.
