County of Limerick – Rural District of Rathkeale: Council Meeting Announcement

The half-yearly meeting of the Council for the Rural District of Rathkeale will take place at the Courthouse in Rathkeale on Thursday, September 22, 1904, at 12 o’clock noon. During the meeting, the Council will consider various motions and proposals for works and contracts. The following notices have been submitted:

  1. Flagging or repairing the old footway from the Munster Bank to O’Shea’s corner on Main Street. The probable cost will be determined by the County Surveyor, and the charge will be split equally between the county and the Rural District. Proposed by Mr John Ambrose, D.C.
  2. Raising the road at Well Lane on the Ballywilliam road, opposite John Sullivan’s house. The probable cost will be determined by the County Surveyor, with the county and rural district sharing the charges equally. Motion put forward by Mr John Ambrose, V.C.
  3. Constructing a four-perch footpath in front of two new houses at Foynes: Mr James Sheahan’s house and butcher’s shop, and Mr Michael Gallagher’s house and shop. The path will be an extension of the existing one leading from the Catholic Church. The estimated cost is 4s 6d per perch, and the charge will be borne by the county-at-large. Motion proposed by Mr John Gallagher, P.C.
  4. Erecting a guard wall on the roadside at William McElligott’s house in Knocknabools. The estimated cost is £3, and the rural district will cover the charges. The motion presented by Mr Michael Cregan, P.C.
  5. Altering a fence and closing a dangerous gap on the road from Shanagolden to Dullyhahili, specifically at Edward Cussen’s farm in Briscagh. The estimated cost is 1d per perch, and the rural district will be responsible for the charges. Motion put forward by Mr Michael Cregan, V.C.
  6. Constructing approximately 50 perches of a concrete footpath from Askeaton cross to the Catholic Church. The estimated cost is £65, with the county and rural district sharing the charges equally. Proposed by Mr John Hewson, P.C.
  7. Providing and erecting two gates by the river in Shanagolden to ensure the safety of children going to school. The probable cost will be determined by the County Surveyor, and the rural district will cover the charges. The motion presented by Mr P.L. O’Sullivan, V.C.
  8. Reissuing advertisements for the construction of Ringmoyla quay. Further details to be provided.
