Temperance Excursion to Foynes Delights Participants

Last Sunday, the St. Michaels Women’s Total Abstinence Sodality organized their second excursion of the season, heading to the charming destination of Foynes. A large group consisting of over one thousand members and their friends embarked on the journey, traveling in two trains that maintained excellent punctuality both on the way to and from their destination. The weather was splendid, adding to the enjoyment of the day.

By the gracious permission of Lord Monteagle, the excursionists had the opportunity to explore the picturesque grounds of Mount Trenchard, which offered breathtaking views of the majestic Shannon River. Accompanying the group was Reverend J. M. Cregan, Adm., from St. Michael’s, serving as the spiritual director. Notably, several clergy members also joined the excursion, making it a truly memorable and uplifting experience.

The excursion to Foynes stands out as one of the most delightful outings of the summer season, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated. The St. Michaels Women’s Total Abstinence Sodality continues to foster a sense of camaraderie and enjoyment while promoting the values of temperance and community engagement.
