The Royal Humane Society has bestowed a well-deserved testimonial upon Mr Michael Adams, a blacksmith from Glin, County Limerick, for his courageous actions on July 29th, which resulted in the saving of four lives from the Shannon Estuary.
The incident unfolded when three children found themselves adrift in a boat. The father of one of the children attempted to swim out to them but encountered difficulties in the water. Without hesitation, Mr Adams plunged into the water and successfully rescued the distressed father. Undeterred, he then swam towards the drifting boat, a challenging feat that required him to cover a quarter-mile distance. With unwavering determination, Mr Adams reached the boat and safely guided the children back to land.
The Royal Humane Society’s testimonial serves as a recognition of Mr Adams’ bravery and selflessness. His quick thinking and heroic actions have undoubtedly saved lives and deserve admiration and gratitude.
