Limerick – The Limerick Industrial Association convened its weekly meeting on Friday evening, with Mr J. H. Scanlan presiding. The secretary provided a report on the receipt of numerous subscriptions, including a generous contribution of £304 from Mr Shaw and £203 from Messrs J. McBirney & Co. Additionally, six new members were admitted to the association.
During the meeting, letters from the Dublin and Dungarvan Industrial Development Associations were read. The members also discussed a concerning trend of shopfitting work being outsourced from the city, work that had previously been carried out by local craftsmen. The matter was deliberated at length, and the secretary was tasked with reaching out to several shopkeepers to encourage them to have the work done locally.
In consideration of an upcoming concert for Barrington’s Hospital, scheduled for the following night, it was decided that the next meeting would be held on Thursday, December 1st. On that occasion, Mr Lynch’s paper would be presented, and members were encouraged to invite their friends to attend.
