Tragic Passing of Mr Owen Ryan, Oola, Former Station Agent of Dublin, Wicklow, and Wexford Railway

The community of Oola and the surrounding areas were deeply saddened and shocked upon learning about the untimely death of Mr Owen Ryan, which was announced late on Friday evening. Mr Ryan, who was in the prime of his life, had a long-standing career with the Dublin, Wicklow, and Wexford Railway, starting as a young boy in their service.

His dedication and hard work were greatly appreciated by his employers, leading to his promotion as the station agent in Tipperary when the company began exercising their running powers over the Great Southern system between Waterford and Limerick Junction under the Amalgamation Act in the past year. Despite his relatively short time in Tipperary, Mr Ryan won the admiration and friendship of all those he interacted with due to his friendly demeanour and professionalism. He played a crucial role in establishing the initial connection between his company and the trade in the town.

Approximately a month ago, he was reassigned to take charge of the station in Cahir. Sadly, his death has come as a shock to everyone, as it was unexpected and followed a brief illness. The sorrow for his passing is heightened by the fact that he was in the prime of his life, and his relatives are now left to cope with the heart-wrenching loss. The community extends its deepest sympathy and support to his grieving family during this difficult time of bereavement.
