Limerick Leads the Way in Fruit Culture in Ireland.

Fruit culture in Ireland is showing promising growth, and recent developments in Limerick highlight the region’s success. At a recent meeting of the County Limerick Technical Education Committee, Father Piston of Kilmeedy proudly announced that a significant number of fruit trees have been planted in his district, thanks to the guidance of Mr Sheppard, the horticultural superintendent. Notably, the local community is actively involved in cultivating vegetables and receiving instruction on grafting techniques. Even the children are displaying great enthusiasm and interest in contributing to the industry’s success. Recognizing the potential for further development, the committee has proposed asking the County Council to impose a levy of one halfpenny in the pound to support Agricultural, technical, and manual education centres throughout the county, ensuring that the fruitful journey of fruit culture in Limerick continues to thrive.
